Friend: Well what if we have a disabled kid? What happens then?
Her fiance: Well, then we drown them at birth. Problem solved.
As reported on my friend's blog. Made me feel like as a disabled person, able-bodied people think my life has no value.

You don't have to go home but you can't stay here
Okay, that was a fun little trip down Nostalgia Lane, but there was a reason I stopped blogging at SP, and it’s the same reason I haven’t actually linked to Christmas Q’s blog: I have no desire to engage with people whose sole desire is to antagonize me. Instead, I will sum up what I have gotten out of this conversation:
A person who is willing to use an oppressed group to which...

Confidential to C.Q.H.
The problem with starting a fake gay-bashing group to make a point about fat-bashing is that you are participating in gay-bashing, whether you are sincere about it or not. Would you do a study on sexual harassment by going out and sexually harassing people?
It’s not about whose opinion counts more because of how much more oppressed they are. It’s about not throwing one group of people...

– Melissa McEwan, of course, on the terrible bargain. My life as a woman, as a queer person, as a fat person, is not your thought experiment.
Stay classy, Sweet Machine.
– Advice for me from someone who thinks making “experimental” gaybashing groups is totally okay, for science. Classy!

I'm getting all nostalgic up in here
While I’m on a roll, I would also like to point out that Christmas Q. Hams, in a misguided attempt to get Facebook to take down fat-hating groups, started his own gay-bashing groups. You know, as an experiment. So that’s a thing that happened.
Some people are really not on your side, even if they can parrot the rhetoric.
And now I will stop, because his douchery was already boring...

Inside baseball
So apparently there is some kind of Tumblr blogfight going on between some FA people, including a couple friends of mine (hi!), about self-identification and erasure and all that related stuff. I’m not going to link to it because I’ve been following the thread back through the reblog labyrinth and still haven’t found the beginning. But I would just like to take this opportunity...
Girls should stop caring about being sexy,...
White hipster male 1: I can't believe how gross that Indian eyebrow threading shit is. I saw video of it.
White hipster male 2: I know. I don't like women who spend all their time and money trying to look good for men. And when they get rid of all the hair and then have to pencil it in - it's just sad and they have too much time on their hands. Read a book, woman!
White hipster male 1: Yeah, women like that are stupid. Besides, I like bushier eyebrows. That's sexy.
Made me feel annoyed, invisible, at a loss for words.

I believe I have reblogged this before, as I will continue to do until I stop hearing people do the exact thing Melissa is describing.

My mother started dying, slowly, seven years ago. She finished dying a little over a year ago. I still dream about her every night. Sugar, as always, gets it right.
